*Trust me it fits just as snug as Rihanna's!!
I can recall many nights my mother working late into the night on an Easter, Christmas, Prom etc. dress.. It is no wonder that I am departing for a cruise in the morning and I am going to be working like a mad woman on my Rihanna dress!
There isn't *too* much to do. LOL
*Put in the self lining
*Put in the boning (which I have never done before)
*Shorten and hem
Which brings me to my next question.. Do you all think I should shorten the dress to Rihanna's length or keep it more a cocktail length? I think it would look cute either way. Remember this is for a cruise -- so I want it to be fabulous!

I think it would look good right above the knee... sexy and classy! I wouldn't do a mid-thigh.
I wouldn't do mid thigh either. And the, where do they have you applying boning? I've found that modern patterns don't have you put it in all the places it could / should go.
Definitly so the side seams, but you also want it over you bust point and in the back slightly off the center (IMHO). Then, it won't go anywhere.
But, doing it just on the side seams won't be enough
I wouldn't do mid thigh either...keep it classy girl! you will look fab!
I would do mid thigh. Use your legs while you can!

Another just above the knee vote. What a cute dress.
its for a cruise... go mid thigh! lol
I say you only live once and you must be *fabulous* while you can. Live it up and hike that hemline! Of course, the key to Rhianna's outfit are the shoes - the 5" heels take it over the top. What about your shoes? You need a super sexy/classy shoe to match the dress. I typically feel that the shorter the dress, the higher the heel needs to be...Make your legs as close to a mile long as possible!

Rihanna's length...if you've got legs, and youth is yours....chile' go for it...
MID THIGH!! It's vacation wear(the one time you can get away with anything) and I have no doubt you'll wear the hell out of it!!
Hey, Tearsa,
Your profile is being featured on PR today!
Oops, I accidentally deleted my own comment. Anyway, the dress would be awesome for a club and stuff, so definetly mid thigh. We're still young and fit to where we can get away with stuff like that and it's ok. I'm in the process of getting fit again for a dress like that for my b-day in a few months. I'll be hitting the clubs in a cute little number. lol.
How high of a heel are you wearing with that dress though? That can also play a part on where the hemline falls.

Hey I peek at your blog occasionally! Love your enthusiastic way!
I fell in love with this dress too as you started doing it. Now I seriously consider making the same dress for a vernissage I am going at the end of the month! And I will go for the mid thigh length!
Same opinion as above - its vacation, you are young, you can work it and it is a fun dress, so no heavy thoughts connected with it.
